This review comes from the perspective of a husband who has seen his wife go through so much pain and discomfort for over 2 years. My wife had been suffering with severe pain. Without going into too many details Dr Attenello performed surgery November 2023. Instantly my wife felt much improvement. Her pain had lowered considerably. Today March of 2024 her pain is almost non existent and definí to a level that is manageable. In a case like hers that is about as good as an outcome that can be expected. I am grateful for Dr Attenello and I am glad she ended up in his capable hands. He was attentive and caring when speaking with her. I can only give high praise to him and for him. It’s great to have my wife back.

My Mom’s Cancer ate away her neck bone, the pain was so severe that she couldn’t move, & she didn’t want to be alive because the pain was unbearable. Her bed was lopsided, meaning it was tilting up on the opposite side because it was an unstable memory foam mattress that didn’t support her weight. So, she fell off the bed, had a fractured spine and couldn’t move. The first time we sent her to the hospital, we had a different doctor, who didn’t help. He didn’t order x rays or anything, he just sent her home with pain medication & that’s when the situation got even worse. I refused to give up, I told my Mom, she had to go back to the hospital and try again because God will provide her a better Doctor and he did. She was aligned with Dr John Attenello, whom wasn’t biased, judgmental and uncaring like the other Doctor. Dr John Attenello is a caring professional & had empathy for my Moms condition & helped her. I just find it amazing that another Doctor would turn her away in ignorance and then God provided her with Dr Attenello. The moral of this story is never give up. If you meet a Doctor that doesn’t understand, go back & ask for Dr John Attenello because he will help you with a kind, caring and professional spirit :) thank you so much Dr Attenello :)

My mother (80 years old) was admitted to the hospital for spinal stenosis and intractable nerve pain this past Memorial Day weekend. We were lucky that Dr Attenello was on call! As a physician myself, I was 100% confident with his assessment and planned management. Mom's spine surgery (laminectomy) went very well, and she left the hospital and completed acute rehabilitation pain free. I'm confident she's received durable treatment for a problem that another spine surgeon had planned to postpone for several months. No one deserves to be left in a pain for months with a condition, that in the right hands, can be treated safely and definitively. Dr. Attenello is a rising star in his field. I've been seeing Dr. John Attenello for about a year and a half for lower back pain and arthritic knees. He's a true professional, businesslike but attentive, patient, and an excellent listener. He always has good advice and is willing to treat and prescribe appropriately. My impression is that his approach is conservative, in the sense that he seems to favor the least invasive method of achieving the desired result. Wonderful! In my case, physical therapy, backed up by small amounts of medication as needed, has led to considerable improvement. We've never discussed surgery, but if I ever needed it I would want Dr. A to perform it. I feel that our rapport has grown, and I look forward to my visits to him; when you can say that about a doctor, you know you've found a "keeper"! Two more things: the office staff has (so far) been reachable and personable, both rare qualities these days. Also, Dr. A's assistant always conducts an extensive interview before the doctor comes in, so even if I forget to mention something to him directly, I know it's in my record. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Attenello, he is an amazing doctor. I have been suffering from spinal disc herniation for more than a year and have tried every other possible treatment from physical therapy to epidural steroid injections but it did not help me at all. Towards the end I cannot walk anymore and my primary care doctor then referred me to Dr. Attenello, during our appointment, he was very concerned for my condition and determined it's best if I get surgery. For the next week, his office and I worked together to get everything cleared and I was able to get the surgery within 10 days of the initial visit. Right away, the pain was gone and I was able to stand up straight and walk again. Dr. Attenello saved my life and I am forever grateful for him.

I was incarcerated for 20 years and had no help from the Department of Correction with my neck. I have bad issues with my neck and for 20 years nothing has been done about it. However, through the process of getting it done I was sent to a doctor who didn’t want to do anything about it. Then I asked for a second opinion. I am writing this review in behalf of my husband, Durand Toma. He was referred to Dr. Attenello by the insurance company last year (2022) because of severe low back pain that travels throughout his legs which impairs his ability to walk as well as his activities of daily living. His low back pain worsened during the pandemic to the point that pain medications were ineffective, thus he was miserable. During the consultation, Dr. Attenello was very thourough as he examined my husband and looked at his MRI results. He explained the images thoroughly and took his time to answer our questions regarding my husband’s diagnosis. He also explained other alternatives besides surgery and was very honest about the pros and cons. He wasn’t just knowledgeable about his expertise, but most of all he showed compassion and care. Because of this, my husband and I decided to go through with the laminectomy to restore his ability to walk and alleviate the pain. Dr. Attenello’s office was very organized and assisted us with what was needed to be done pre-operatively. My husband was a given a surgery schedule right away and the office took care of what procedures needed to be done prior to the surgery. They were very good with calling and reminding us of upcoming procedures and other appointments. The surgery was a success and thank you to Dr. Attenello for doing a great job! Even after the surgery, Dr. Attenello and his office staff made themselves available and was very prompt in calling us back when we had questions or for refill of pain medications. Dr. Attenello would also make random phone calls to my husband to ask how he was doing even though he was not scheduled for any appointments. I am writing this review for my mother who isn't computer savvy. My mom is in her 60's, so it's understandable. My mom had spinal surgery back in August 2022. At first, she was a little apprehensive about the surgery, because so many things could go wrong. The spine has bones, muscles, tendons, and tissues that connects to the base of the skull and tailbone, so yeah one oopsy could lead to her being paralysed or something even worse death. Dr. Attenello, explained my mother's surgery as thorough as possible. He was very attentive and answered every question that myself and my mom asked him. Dr. Attenello, knows his stuff. I was very confident in him and his expertise to make the surgery a success. It is very rare to find doctor's who are scrupulous with their patients. It is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Dr Attenello is amazing. He saw both my parents and was able to fit them in so quickly. They didn't have any wait and he spent so much time with them. My mom had spine trauma and my dad has had multiple prior spine surgeries with continued back pain. My Dad said Dr. Attenello was much more detailed and informative than the other two spine surgeons he saw. My parents can be indecisive and Dr. Attenello was so patient with them which I really appreciated! He doesn't push surgery and helps make informed decisions. The office staff were friendly as well. Dr. Attenello performed a lumbar spine microdiscectomy for me after I had a motorcycle accident. It provided immediate relief for my pain. When I expressed before the surgery that I was feeling anxious since it was my first surgery, Dr. Attenello was kind enough to help reassure me and help ease my anxiety. His staff was very professional and proactive. They called constantly to confirm appointments and making sure I was going to those appointments.

I’d like to start by thanking Dr. Attenello and his staff. I don’t typically write lengthy reviews or any reviews at all, Only when it matters. On the previous day of my visit I had injured my lower spine, the lumbar area. After receiving an X-Ray confirming the injury I had nowhere that would take me in so quickly. This was crucial since I was under immense pain with any movement such as breathing would add on to the agony. Once I’ve arrived, I was greeted and seen almost immediately. I got lucky since I came in at a time when there weren’t many patients. Once I showed my x-rays to the doctor he then checked me out and confirmed that it was a herniated disc. He was super attentive, patient and listened to all my complaints. After getting treated I’m all better! If it weren’t for Dr. Attenello, I would have potentially made my injury worse by not having it treated. I highly recommend this place, every individual seems to really enjoy what they do in helping others. Very easy to talk to and helpful! As a huge skeptic of things, this place definitely made me feel like I was really being taken care of in a genuine way. Thank you!

I had an extremely positive experience visiting Dr. Attenello‘ s office, which felt state of the art, professional and staff was quite friendly. Dr. Attenello provided an epidural injection to address a herniated disc injury in my back. Dr. Attenello took his time to thoroughly review my MRI with me, explained clearly what the issues were and what the procedure would be like and followed up with me consistently before and after the injection. He even drove me home from the hospital after my surgery when my ride called and said they were going to be an hour late to pick me up. I would give more stars if it were an option. Highly recommended! 3/25/22 Update: My epidural injection helped for about 4 months, but did not resolve my herniated disc issue, and my sciatica and back pain symptoms intensified as the epidural wore off. I returned to Dr. Attenello, evaluated my options carefully and decided to proceed with a microdiscectomy surgery. My herniated disc was tenting my nerve root to my right leg and the pain over time became unbearable. Even though I tried chiropractic therapy, and several lifestyle adjustments (stretching, massages, medications, standing desk, inversion table, lumbar supports, etc.) to address my herniated disc and sciatica nothing was working so I concluded a microdiscectomy surgery was necessary to address my problems. Immediately when I awoke from the microdiscectomy surgery my Sciatica was gone. I felt so grateful to be free of the chronic pain that had been relentless up until that point in time. For months I couldn't sit or lay down comfortably, but now I can. Overall, I felt the surgery well. Again, Dr. Attenello was professional, openly communicative and responsive throughout the process and I appreciate how quickly he was able to get me into surgery and how smooth the whole process was, even returning my disability paperwork and providing my work with the necessary information so I could go on medical leave for my recovery went well. I didn't know what Sciatica was when I was younger, but now I know living with it can be a huge burden, and I'm so grateful there are medical doctors out there who can address these kinds of issues. I first tried going to a chiropractor to address my herniated disc and sciatica issues, but I had a real negative experience because the chiropropractor injured my neck during an adjustment, and would not refund my money after, which only compounded the stress I was dealing with at the time. If I could do it all over again I would have tried physical therapy instead and seen an orthopedic surgeon right away and avoided the chiropractor entirely. I hope this review helps someone going through the same issues. Back issues can be overwhelming. Dr. Attenello and his team provided me with great care during one of my greatest times of need.
